SuperchargedMore Power is the Name of the Game for Remix Accord 2.0

In an era where differentiation is paramount, customizing your ride is an excellent method of showcasing your car and expressing your personality. Honda has been the platform of choice for the performance aftermarket scene since its inception.Supercharged

The PASMAG Remix program – a partnership between PRN’s sister publication Performance Auto & Sound Magazine (PASMAG) and Honda Canada – is designed to reconnect the Honda brand with grassroots enthusiasts across the country and demonstrate the benefits of working with Honda vehicles.

After the success of the first series of PASMAG Remix cars in 2011, the challenge for the second series was to take it to the next level by significantly enhancing the performance of two vehicles that are already very capable in factory spec – the Civic Si and the Accord V6 Coupe, featured previously.

As good as its performance is out of the box, there was room for improvement. The focal point of the build was the installation of a Supercharger.

Project Overview

SuperchargedFor years, the Honda Accord V6 Coupe has featured a winning combination of style, performance and legendary Honda reliability that has created legions of happy customers and won numerous awards.

This proven formula lives on in the current Accord V6 Coupe, making it a coveted nameplate not only for owners who are perfectly happy to drive it in its factory trim, but also for performance enthusiasts who see plenty of tuning potential in the Accord V6 platform.

Honda and PASMAG worked together to bring some of the Accord’s performance potential to light, and the result was the original Remix Accord, a machine that featured style and performance enhancements both inside and out.

That car turned heads and created plenty of buzz on the auto show circuit and served as a reminder to the public, that for all of Honda’s considerable mainstream success, it remains a company built with performance at its core.

This year, Honda and PASMAG, along with its partners at International Automotive and Custom, Defcon Racing and Best Buy Canada, sought to go even further in the performance enhancement vein with the Remix Accord 2.0.

More power through supercharging.

Let’s be clear up front: the Accord V6 Coupe is no slouch in stock form, thanks to a 3.5L V6 that produces 271hp with optimal timing through its 24V i-VTEC system.

With an impressive powerplant already in place, the guiding principle for this project was to crank up the performance, and enhance the car’s winning style at the same time. This powerful coupe provides an exhilarating drive and our team wanted to ensure that it looked the part.

Under the hood, a CT Engineering Supercharger pushed peak horsepower well beyond 300. A Magnaflow stainless steel muffler and a custom stainless exhaust allow the fumes to escape quickly and with a throatier sound.

The focus then turned towards enhancing the Accord Coupe’s muscular looks. IAC applied Frozen Grey paint with Black trim to provide some contrast and some additional style. The wheels were swapped in favor of 20-inch Vossen Wheels VVSCV3 alloys with a matte black machined finish that are held on with McGard PASMAG laser-engraved tuner lug nuts. These stylish wheels were then wrapped in
Kumho rubber, with 245/30/20s up front and 275/30/20 in the rear. The factory headlights were replaced with a set of Eurolite HID low-beams and a pair of Philips Crystal Vision Ultra Bright high beams. Completing the aggressive performance look was the Honda Factory Performance (HFP) body kit.Supercharged

The chassis received some attention as well thanks to some BC Racing Coilovers. The BC coilover system is a fully adjustable unit that can adjust suspension from hard to soft and lower the ride height for the right look. The front brakes have been replaced with a Rotora big brake kit which features 6-piston calipers clamping down on 15-inch, slotted 2-piece rotors that are durable and reduce rotating weight.

Inside the cabin, the driver-oriented, performance feel of the Remix Accord 2.0 was accomplished with some sharp style upgrades. The factory seats were covered with Roadwire leather seat covers in both the front and rear, and Momo contributed a race shift knob and a set of its Gotham Racing pedals. To complete the feeling of enhanced, driver-oriented performance, Eurolite LED Lighting was installed throughout the cabin.

The audio and multimedia upgrades were performed by the Geek Squad experts at Best Buy in Toronto. Augmenting the OEM stereo is a JBL GTO1004 4-channel amp featuring variable electronic crossover and bass boost. Driving some serious bass is a Bazooka BTA10100FHC 10-inch Amplified Basstube, while a set of JBL P660C 6.5-inch 2-way component speaker systems and a set of JBL GTO628 6.5-inch speakers surround the occupants with sound. BTAH provided all of the necessary cabling and hookups for constant power and true fidelity sound, along with Dynamat sound deadening to optimize the acoustic experience.

In sum, the Remix Accord 2.0 was designed to provide Accord owners with an example of the car’s considerable tuning potential. With its enhanced performance and style, and more aggressive personality, the Remix Accord 2.0 stands out in a crowd and should serve as inspiration for Accord owners seeking to spice up their ride.
