PREVIEW: October 19-20, 2019: NASCAR at Kansas

1. NASCAR Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 300 at the Kansas Speedway
• TV: NBC/TSN3 at 3:00P
• 1.5 mi oval; 200 laps = 300 mi; Stages: 45/45/110 laps
• In October last year here John Hunter Nemechek won the race. Daniel Hemric was second and Elliott Sadler was third.
• The most recent Xfinity Series race was run at Dover two weeks ago. Cole Custer came home the winner ahead of Justin Allgaier and Austin Cindric
• Kansas is the first of three races in the final elimination round in the Xfinity Series. The next two are the races at Texas and ISM/Phoenix. Of the six playoff drivers competing in this round, only the top four will move on to the finale at Homestead. Of those four, the driver with the best finishing position at Homestead will be declared the 2019 champion.

2. NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway
• TV: NBC/TSN1/5 at 2:30P
• 1.5 mi oval; 267 laps = 400.5 mi; Stages: 80/80/107 laps
• Chase Elliott was last year’s race winner of the October race at Kansas. Kyle Busch finished in second place while Kyle Larson was third.
• Last weekend the MENCS series ran at Talladega. Coming off the third ‘big one’, Ryan Blaney edged Ryan Newman for the win. Denny Hamlin finished in third place.
• This MENCS race at Kansas is an elimination race, being the third race in the Round of 12. The bottom four playoff drivers will be eliminated after this race and only eight will go forward to the next elimination round of three races (Martinsville, Texas, ISM/Phoenix). At the end of those three races, the top four playoff drivers will advance to the finale at Homestead which is (among those four drivers) a winner-take-all format.
