PREVIEW: November 15-16-17, 2019: Brazilian GP + NASCAR finales at Homestead

Friday, November 15

1. NASCAR Gander Outdoors Trucks Ford EcoBoost 20 at Homestead
• TV: FSR at 8:00P
• 1.5 mi paved oval; 134 laps = 201 mi; Stages: 30/30/74 laps
• The winner of last year’s truck series finale here was Brett Moffitt with Grand Enfinger second and Noah Gragson third. The 2019 truck series final four playoff drivers were Moffitt, Justin Haley, Johnny Sauter and Gragson. As the highest-placed playoff driver in the race, Moffitt was declared the 2019 NCWTS champion.
• At Phoenix last week Stewart Friesen was the race winner (his second win of the season) ahead of Brandon Jones and Chandler Smith – neither of whom were playoff contenders.
• Going into the finale at Homestead this year there are four drivers who still have a chance to win the NGOTS championship this year: Friesen, Ross Chastain, Moffitt and Matt Crafton. Whichever one finishes highest in the final results will be declared the 2019 champion.

Saturday, November 16

2. NASCAR Xfinity Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead
• TV: TSN1 at 3:30P
• 1.5 mi paved oval; 200 laps = 300 mi; Stages: 45/45/110 laps
• Last year the NXS Championship 4 playoff drivers were Cole Custer, Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick and Daniel Hemric. Reddick won the race outright thereby clinching the season’s Xfinity title for himself. Custer finished second while John Hunter Nemechek was third.
• Justin Allgaier was the winner of last week’s race at Phoenix, Cole Custer was second and Tyler Reddick was third.
• Going into the finale at Homestead this week there are four drivers who still have a chance to win the NXS championship this year: Allgaier, Bell, Reddick and Custer. Whichever one finishes highest in the final results will be declared the 2019 champion.

Sunday, November 17

3. FIA Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos (São Paulo)
• TV: TSN3 at 12:05P
• 4.309 km lap length; 71 laps; 305.909 km race distance
• Last year, the race was won by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) with Max Verstappen (Red Bull) second and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) third. Hamilton had previously clinched the driver’s championship title but Mercedes claimed the manufacturer’s title in this race.
• The most recent GP was the US Grand Prix at COTA (Austin, TX) on November 3. Hamilton ended the race winner ahead of polesitter Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen.
• Mercedes has already clinched both titles – driver (at COTA) and manufacturer (at Japan).

4. Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Ford EcoBoost 400, Homestead
• TV: NBC/TSN5 at 3:00P
• 1.5 mi paved oval; 267 laps = 400.5 mi; Stages: 80/80/107 laps
• The four drivers who were still competing for the series championship were Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano. Joey Logano won the race (and also the 2019 championship title). Truex was second, Harvick third and Busch fourth.
• Last week at Phoenix, Denny Hamlin was the race winner, earning a spot in the final four for the Homestead finale. Kyle Busch was second and Ryan Blaney third.
• Going into the finale at Homestead this Sunday there are four drivers who still have a chance to win the MENCS championship this year: Hamlin, Harvick, Truex and Kyle Busch. Whichever one finishes highest in the final results will be declared the 2019 champion.
