More calendar revisions: NASCAR, IMSA and more ...

This week we have heard of a number of adjustments to various racing calendars that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

NASCAR had previously announced their revised schedule for most of May, starting with a Cup race this Sunday, May 17, at Darlington. Now NASCAR has announced a second batch of schedule revisions, starting with the last weekend in May into late June. As with the earlier May dates, all of these races in the new batch will run with NO SPECTATORS.

Here is the list of NASCAR races scheduled for May-June:

Note that race broacasts scheduled for FS1 in the US are normally available in Canada on TSN (Cup + Xfinity) and on Fox Sports Racing (NGROTS). I will try to keep my TV Listings here up to date on this.

In addition, IMSA has sent out their own revised version of their 2020 schedule, with the next race planned for July 4, a 160 min sprint race on the Daytona road course. Note that the race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, which had been scheduled for the weekend of July 5, has been cancelled outright.

As I write this, I  just received notice that the IndyCar Honda Indy, scheduled for Toronto on July 10, has been ‘postponed’. I imagine it would be very hard to work out another suitable date with the city for this event – especially given that the Canadian National Exhibition which runs in the second half of August each year has already been cancelled. It looks like nothing much will be happening in Toronto before SeptemberAs I write this, I  just received notice that the IndyCar Honda Indy, scheduled for Toronto on July 10, has been ‘postponed’. The Pinty’s Series has lost many dates from its original 2020 calendar and it seems obvious that they race that is run in conjunction with the Honda Indy in Toronto will have to be ‘postponed’ or cancelled. Other than that,  I have updated the Pinty’s calendar on my master calendar here.
