PREVIEW: NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Trucks at Homestead

Saturday, June 13

1. NASCAR Xfinity Hooters 250, Homestead-Miami Speedway
• TV: FOX + TSN3/5 at 3:30P
• 1.5 mi asphalt 20° banked oval; 167 laps = 250.5 mi; Stages: 40/40/87 laps
• Here’s how the starting lineup was determined:
   > Positions 1-12: The first 12 NXS Teams based on the Adverse Conditions Line Up Eligibility will be assigned starting positions 1st – 12th using a random draw.
   > Positions 13-24: The next 12 NXS Teams based on the Adverse Conditions Line Up eligibility will be assigned starting positions 12th-24th using a random draw.
   > Starting positions 25-36: The next 12 NXS Teams based on the Adverse Conditions Line Up eligibility will be assigned starting positions 25th-36th using a random draw.
   > Any vehicles that are eligible for the Event in positions 37th – 40th will be assigned starting positions based on their order of eligibility.
• no-spectator rule continues
• There was only one Xfinity race at Homestead last year – the championship finale on November 16. Tyler Reddick was the race winner. Cole Custer finished second, Chase Briscoe third, Noah Gragson fourth and Christopher Bell fifth. This year Reddick, Custer and Bell have moved up to the Cup Series as rookies.
• The most recent Xfinity race was run at Atlanta last Saturday, June 6. A.J. Allmendinger, a veteran driver who has stepped down from the Cup series this year was the winner, his first-ever win in any series on an oval track. Gragson was second ahead of Justin Haley, Daniel Hemric (another driver who has stepped down from Cup this year) was fourth with rookie Harrison Burton fifth.

2. NASCAR NGROTS (trucks), Baptist Health 200, Homestead-Miami Speedway
• TV: Fox sports Racing at 7:30P
• 1.5 mi asphalt 20° banked oval; 134 laps = 201 mi; Stages: 30/30/74 laps
• Here’s how the starting lineup was determined:
   > Positions 1-10: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
   > Positions 11-21: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
   > Positions 22-32: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
   > Any vehicles that are eligible for the Event in position 33rd – 40th will be assigned starting positions based on their order of eligibility.
• no-spectator rule continues
• Last year, the NGROTS race at Homestead was the championship finale on November 15. Austin Hill was the race winner but Matt Crafton, who had never won a race all season and who finished in second place here, was declared the series champion for 2019. Christian Eckes was third, Ross Chastain fourth and Brett Moffitt fifth.
• The most recent NGROTS race this year was held at Atlanta on June 6. Grant Enfinger won the race with Austin Hill second, Eckes third, Todd Gilliand fourth and Zane Smith fifth.

3. NASCAR Xfinity Series Contender Boats 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway
• TV: TSN3/5 at 12:00n
• 1.5 mi asphalt 20° banked oval; 167 laps = 250.5 mi; Stages: 40/40/87 laps
• Because the series races twice at Miami in two days, this second race will use an inversion of the previous day’s results to determine the starting lineup:
> Positions 1-15: Invert the top 15 from the June 13 race at Homestead
> Positions 16-40: In finishing order from the June 13 race at Homestead, followed by new entries
• A very limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend on this day. NASCAR will invite up to 1,000 South Florida service members as honorary guests for the race, the first time spectators have been allowed since the sport returned May 17.
• Last year, the Xfinity race at Homestead was the championship finale on November 16. Tyler Reddick won the race and the series championship. Cole Custer finished in second place ahead of Chase Briscoe Noah Gragson and Christopher Bell. Reddick, Custer and Bell have all moved up to the Cup series this year.
• The most recent race before this one on Sunday will be the first half of the Homestead Xfinity double-header which will be run on the previous day, Saturday evening.

4. NASCAR Cup Series Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway
• TV: FOX + TSN3/5 at 3:30P
• 1.5 mi asphalt 20° banked oval; 267 laps = 400.5 mi; Stages: 80/80/107 laps
• Here’s how the starting lineup was determined:
   > Positions 1-12: Random draw from charter teams in those positions in owner points
   > Positions 13-24: Random draw from charter teams in those positions in owner points
   > Positions 25-36: Random draw from charter teams in those positions in owner points
   > Positions 37-40: Open teams in order of owners points
• A very limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend on this day. NASCAR will invite up to 1,000 South Florida service members as honorary guests for the race, the first time spectators have been allowed since the sport returned May 17.
• The Cup race at Homestead last year was the season finale on November 17. It was won by Kyle Busch who also won the Cup Series championship for 2019. Martin Truex was second, Erik Jones was third, Kevin Harvick fourth and Joey Logano fifth.
