FACT FILE: NASCAR Cup and Xfinity at Martinsville

1. NASCAR Cup Series ‘Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500'
• Race Date: Saturday, April 10, 2021
• TV: TSN5 at 7:30P tp 11:30

• Rain stopped the NCS race after 42 of the race’s 500 laps had been completed. The remainder of the race is now scheduled to resume at 4:00P on Sunday. Presumably this second part of the Cup race will also be shown on one of the TSN channels.
• Another option for a die-hard NCS race fan would be to use your computer to tune in the MRN radio broadcast. The link for this is mrn.com

VENUE:
• Martinsville Speedway, Martinsville, VA
• 0.526 mi (0.847 km) ‘paperclip’ oval; track surface a mix of concrete and asphalt paving.

THE EVENT:
• Race Distance is 500 laps = 263 mi; Stages: 130/130/240 = 500 laps
• There will be a race for the Whelen Modified Tour run on Thursday, preceded by a practice and a qualifying session the same day. (See the event schedule by clicking the link below)
• There will be no practice or qualifying sessions for the Cup Series of the Xfinity Series races.
• The starting lineups for Cup and Xfinity will be determined by NASCAR’s Metric Qualifying formula. (See the second page of the ‘Starting Lineup’ documents.)

PREVIOUS RESULTS:
• Two Cup races were held here last year. The spring race was rescheduled to June 10 and the second race was held as part of the season-end playoffs on November 1.
> The Podium Results for the June race were: 1. Martin Truex (Toyota), 2. Ryan Blaney (Ford), 3. Brad Keselowski (Ford).
> The Podium Results for the November race were: Chase Elliott (Chevrolet), 2. Ryan Blaney (Ford), 3. Joey Logano (Ford), 4. Brad Keselowski (Ford)
• The most recent Cup race this season was held at Bristol (on the dirt surface) on March 29. The Podium Results were: 1. Joey Logano (Ford), 2. Ricky Stenhouse (Chevrolet), 3. Denny Hamlin (Toyota).

2. NASCAR Xfinity Series ‘Cook Out 250'
• Race Date: Friday, April 9, 2021
• TV: TSN2 at 8:00P to 10:30

• Rain stopped the Xfinity race after 91 of the race’s 250 laps on Friday evening. After a long wait in hopes that they could resume racing later into Friday night, they changed course and rescheduled the remainder of the race to Sunday at 12: 00 noon. As of 10:00A Saturday morning I have heard nothing from TSN about plans to broadcast the Sunday portion of this race. Nevertheless, if you want to see the completion of this Xfinity race, check out the various TSN channels at noon on Sunday.

• The only Xfinity Series race held here last year was the playoff race on October 31. The Podium Results for that race were: 1. Harrison Burton (Toyota), 2. Justin Allgaier (Chevrolet), 3. Noah Gragson (Chevrolet).
• The most recent Xfinity Series race was held at the Atlanta Speedway on March 20. The Podium Results were: 1. Justin Allgaier (Chevrolet), 2. Martin Truex (Toyota), 3. Harrison Burton (Toyota).
