On-track and under the skin of the Porsche 918

Porsche 918

Wanna see something cool? How about some footage of one of the year’s (or next year’s, or the year after that, or…) Porsche 918 taking on the Nürburgring, everyone’s favorite testing ground?

The 918 is smart enough, but the fact that Porsche has decided to give it a Martini livery—one of the most iconic liveries of all time, if not necessarily in black—just ups the ante. It’s almost as if Porsche is trying to show that even though the 918 is slated to join the LaFerrari and McLaren P1 as part of the tech supercar wave, it still has Porsche classic racing heritage in mind.

Have a look, courtesy of Porsche’s YouTube channel:

I don’t know about you, but I never thought an electric supercar could sound so good—even though they’re of the full-electric variety, I had visions of Teslas in my mind, if I’m honest, and there really isn’t much there in the sound department.

There’s plenty of race car-like noise here, though.

Want some more 918 love? Well, we’re happy to oblige, of course; have a look at this latest vid to see what makes the 918 tick:
