2011 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera LP570-4
Monticello Motor Club Monticello, New York

The author stands between two 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggeras.Recently, while at the Monticello Motor Club, I was offered the chance to test drive the new Lamborghini Superleggera - 570hp, all-wheel drive, extensive use of carbon fiber and a top speed of 202 mph…I said yes.

I wasn’t able to do a top speed run, but it is worth mentioning that the previous generation of this car (the 2007 Superleggera) is by far the fastest car down Monticello’s epically long back straight I have ever driven. I consistently reached speeds of 170mph in the ’07. The combination of all-wheel drive acceleration, a sequential gearbox and advanced aerodynamics have Superleggeras punching well above their Horsepower bracket.

Povoledo and Eric Meyer (right) at VIR.Fellow racer and friend Eric Meyer finished 2nd in the 2010 World Challenge Touring Class championship in his XOWii sponsored Mazda RX-8 and while testing at VIR he asked me to hop in and try it out. Terrific race car, great handing and the brakes are endless too. Perfect car for a good street fight!

“If you build it, they will come”
Backyard karting track somewhere in the south…

A backyard karting track with a beachfront view.I’m not at liberty to say where this track is located or who owns it, but what I can say is he is a friend of mine and I took this photo from the balcony of his house – it’s nothing short of amazing! Story has it that while the owner was trying to decide what to do with his new backyard – hey, why just settle for having your own beach? – a good friend of his jokingly remarked, “you should build a go kart track.”

Gotta love a guy with enough spirit and energy to turn around and actually do it!!
