Lincoln at NAIAS Detroit Auto Show

Lincoln’s presence at the North American Auto Show was focused squarely on taking advantage of the small luxury SUV market with it’s new MKC Concept.

The interior of the MKC introduces new styling cues, including wood and chrome accents in the console, door panels and premium leather seats. A leather and chrome cargo bay continue a clean look throughout the vehicle.

To accentuate space within, a fully-panoramic roof creates an open feel for passengers. While the show version was not retractable, it will more than likely be an option once it reaches production.

A push button transmission and customizable lighting were also confirmed, but additional specifications or performance numbers were not announced.

Moving to the exterior, the front fascia features bold styling highlighted by the broad Lincoln grill, which has become a staple for the company in it’s recent lineup. Front HID headlamps and LED lighting give the Lincoln an updated look, while the rear lift gate includes a single, full-width tail lamp.

While the MKC Concept looks to take advantage of a gap in the small luxury SUV market, it’s hard to look past the style similarities it shares with Lincoln’s current MKX. Company officials confirmed the MKC would see production and import the majority of styling into the new SUV, so we just can’t help but wonder if the MKX’s days are numbered.
