Cindric dominant in Dover Xfinity’s third Stage

Dover, DE, May 15/21 (by John Davison): Austin Cindric won his third race of the 2021 season at Dover International Speedway, beating rookie Josh Berry to the checkered flag by 3.79 seconds after leading the final 51 laps of the 200-lap race on the Monster Mile.

Justin Allgaier led nearly half the race, running at the front of the field four times for a total of 94 laps while rookie Josh Berry led on two occasions for 48 laps. A ten-minute red flag halted the race for minutes after a four-car incident on the back straight that involved cars driven by Matt Mills, Matt Jaskol, Jesse Little and Josh Williams – with Jaskol's car winding up on top of Jesse Little's, but none of the drivers was injured.

"I feel like an idiot -that's on me guys, think I clipped the apron" reported Little, who started what could have been a one-car spin into the inside wall, except that Jaskol himself got clipped when the pack slowed, sending him sliding backwards into Little's stopped car.

Cindric took the lead from Allgaier to lead starting from lap 150 to the checkered flag for career win eleven and first in his eight races at Dover.

"We just kept at it the whole time,"said Cindric. "We made the right adjustments on pit stops and I feel like I have learned a lot about this race track, enough to get the Car Shop Ford Mustang into victory lane.

"We have had a Dover race twice on the Xfinity schedule since I started racing Xfinity and we took one off the schedule and I really wanted to win here so bad. I had to not let that desire cloud my judgment today because I knew we had a tough task ahead of us. To get the opportunity on the restart and showcase our car in clean air means the world to me."

By finishing second, Josh Berry clinched the $100,000 bonus for the Xfinity Dash4Cash and beat out his fellow JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier, who finished in third place.

The next Xfinity race on the schedule is set for the Circuit of the Americas at Austin, TX next Saturday, May 22. This will mark the first time any NASCAR series race has visited this Grand Prix-style road course.
